Premium Non-ferric Aluminum Sulfate by Aure Chemical
Non-ferric Aluminum Sulfate, also known as iron-free alum, is a high-purity form of aluminum sulfate. Its molecular formula is Al₂(SO₄)₃·xH₂O, and its molecular weight is 342.15 (for the anhydrous form, Al₂(SO₄)₃). This product is valued for its purity and lack of iron impurities, which makes it ideal for sensitive applications.
It appears as a white solid—in flake, granular, or powder form—or a colorless, transparent liquid. It has a specific gravity of 1.69, absorbs moisture easily, and can agglomerate. Its dehydration temperature is 86.5°C. The substance is soluble in water, acid, and alkali, but is insoluble in alcohol. An aqueous solution of non-ferric aluminum sulphate is acidic and has a characteristic flavor that is both acidic and astringent. When heated to 530°C, it begins to decompose, with the process completing at 860°C, leaving γ-Al₂O₃ as the final decomposition product.

Applications of Non-ferric Aluminum Sulfate
Non-ferric aluminium sulfate is a versatile chemical used across various industries due to its effectiveness as a coagulant and flocculant. Its main applications include:
Water Treatment: Used as a primary coagulant in water purification and wastewater treatment to remove suspended particles, heavy metals, and phosphorus.
Paper Manufacturing: It functions as a sizing agent, a retention and drainage aid, and a filling and binding agent to improve the quality, brightness, and ink receptivity of paper.
Other Industrial Uses: It is also used in the processing of uranium dioxide, as a catalyst carrier, in fire-fighting foam, as a flame retardant for insulation materials, as a refractory additive, and as a raw material for artificial gems. Additionally, it's used in the textile industry as a mordant for dyeing and printing, in leather tanning, and in the food industry as a firming agent.
