What Is an ISO Tank Container?

An ISO tank is an intermodal bulk-liquid tank container designed to move within an approved road, rail and sea logistics chain. The tank vessel is installed inside a standardized frame, but the term “ISO tank” does not describe one universal equipment configuration.

Individual tanks may differ in vessel material, lining, insulation, fittings, discharge arrangement and installed thermal systems. Tank data and operator confirmation are therefore required before suitability is established.

The selected tank must be compatible with the exact xylene grade, loading facility, route, carrier and receiving site. Equipment that was suitable for one shipment should not automatically be assumed suitable for another product or route.

Buyer-Provided ISO Tank Arrangements
